cya....
hmmmm.... while i completely understand what you
have said... (and agree to an extent)... it is
common knowledge (or at least implied) that this
country and its foundation rests solely on
caucasian (european), heterosexual (xtian morality)
values... and while you have much to be proud of
(or -- less to be ashamed of)... you are nothing
to really exalt.
it is the concensus that the white bread fathers
were arrogant enough to look-down upon others
that were not the same (as is true of any 'group')
therefore, if you were to create a banner for
plain caucasian heterosexual males... you would
be laughed at.
even with all the diversity-imposed rhetoric
we are so accustomed to, it is somewhat implied
that the white, heterosexual male has the lead
on any other ethnicity/gender... sad, but true.
this is prolly why there are literacy banners
and other various cliche bandwagons for white
heterosexual males... because it helps them
associate in the 'plight for a cause'.... for
whatever that means.
i am still under the contention that EVERYONE
is prejudice... regardless of what they say...
and to some extent... the urge to create a
bandwagon for the recognition of X group is
nothing more than hypocrisy .... its the landmark
idea of hoisting one group into a recognition
of value over another... be it with a national
holiday, a march, a speech or whatever....
its one of those carefully structured rules of
hypocrisy that is socially acceptable.
in other words....
you should feel valuable and lucky that you
don't have a benefit, a holiday, or a banner...
as you would not fall into that category.
naturally this is a catch 22...
because you cannot escape the circle.

Well, I sit here and watch day after day... I watch things like Gay Pride parades, Martin Luther King Day, All Saints Day, blaa blaa blaa even to go as far as to applying to the United Negro College fund.
Now to go as far as to say as I am prolly the least prejudice person I know of yet every time I see something a person flaunts as their heritage or their beliefs I get annoyed.
I mean I sit here usually quiet but I find it funny to think that if I had some sort of Straight as an arrow hetero-sexual parade or maybe if I started a fund for the All White not an ounce of Black College Fund, or maybe had a holiday for say hmmmmmmm Jerry Springer an held white festivities and fairs to celebrate the trailer park humor he brings to the people... I am damn SURE that someone would bitch. Not only Bitch but vote it down for being immoral un-ethical treatment of some race.
I just find it funny as hell to think that just because I am a white hetero-sexual male that now it feels as if I am a minority of a minority and heaven forbid I stand up and say I am proud to be a white man for fear of some woman sueing me for sexual harassment or some race other then white attacking me for being glad of who I am.
I am sorry but I am not Clinton, George Bush, David Duke, I dont own any slave land, I don't import illegals into the US for profit, I don't think Men are always better for the job, I don't think a woman DESERVED or ASKED for it, and I don't care who does what or marries who....
But damnit I am a white, American hetero-sexual male. Nothing more.. nothing less. Now take the chip off your shoulder and get on with your life so I can get on with mine.

why would you feel proud about your skin color or your sexual orientation?
You might be proud for not caring about it, or feeling happy for not hiding your orientation anymore. But i don't see a reason to be proud of my skin color. That some people seem to find their skin color the one feature that 'defines' them, then let them be.
